Malbi can be described as a sweet stewed beef. The sweetness comes does not come from sugar but rather from the natural spices. However, the level of sweetness can be controlled by the customer when preparing the dish itself (by adding sweet soy sauce or palm sugar). It is a traditional food from South Sumatra. The dish can be prepared relatively dry or with gravy.
What You Need:
•1 lb. of thoroughly washed Beef
•1 Pack of this Hikmah Fajar Seasoning Paste
•3 cloves shallots (sliced), 1 clove garlic (sliced), tamarind, bay leaf, lemon grass, brown sugar and soy sauce.
•Optional: ½ Can (220 ml) of Coconut Milk
Three Easy Steps:
1.Marinate the beef with the seasoning paste. Let it settled for about 10 minutes.
2.Sauté garlic and shallots until golden brown. Add the beef. Add coconut milk (optional)
3.Add bay leaf and lemon grass. Cooked thoroughly, then add brown sugar, tamarind, sweet sauce and salt if needed.
